Controversial Nigerian singer **Habeeb Okikiola**, popularly known as **Portable**, has strongly criticized Christian pastors in Nigeria for what he described as their “deafening silence” amid the continued killing of Christians in the country.
The Zazu crooner’s outburst comes in the wake of a fresh attack on worshippers during **Palm Sunday** services in Jos, Plateau State. Suspected militants reportedly stormed a church area, triggering widespread outrage and reigniting debates about targeted violence against Christians in parts of the country.
In a viral video shared on social media, Portable did not mince words as he accused prominent pastors of hypocrisy.
“You ride in bulletproof cars and live in mansions while your members are being slaughtered,” he said. “Yet you refuse to speak out or take any meaningful action.”
The singer questioned why religious leaders have not organized protests, issued strong condemnations, or taken visible steps to protect their congregations despite repeated attacks on Christian communities. He expressed deep frustration over what he sees as a lack of leadership and advocacy from Christian clerics.
Portable further argued that leaders from other religions would respond more aggressively if their followers were facing similar threats. Speaking in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin English, he lamented the apparent indifference of some pastors in the face of ongoing violence.
This latest criticism has sparked intense reactions online, with many Nigerians divided over the role of religious leaders in addressing insecurity, especially in troubled regions like Plateau State.
