Army Chief Waidi Shaibu Storm Jos with Top Security Chiefs to Crush Rising Insecurity in Plateau

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has stormed Plateau State at the head of a high-powered delegation of senior security chiefs in a decisive move to confront the escalating wave of insecurity and restore lasting peace to the troubled region.

The high-level visit, which took place in Jos, the state capital, underscores the Federal Government’s renewed determination to tackle the persistent security challenges that have plagued parts of Plateau State for years. Accompanied by top brass from various security agencies, Lt. Gen. Shaibu was warmly received upon arrival by Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang. The cordial reception highlighted the strong collaboration and synergy between the military high command and civilian authorities in the collective effort to bring normalcy back to affected communities.

During the strategic security engagements, the Army Chief and his team received comprehensive briefings from field commanders and intelligence officers on the current security architecture, ongoing military operations, and the root causes of the recurring violence in the state. The briefings reportedly covered recent incidents, patterns of attacks, and the effectiveness of existing strategies aimed at stabilizing volatile communities, protecting innocent lives, and preventing further bloodshed.

Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu used the opportunity to reassure the people of Plateau State of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment and firm resolve to safeguard law-abiding citizens. He emphasized that the military will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of residents. The Army Chief further urged citizens to continue cooperating fully with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence. He also stressed the importance of strict adherence to all curfew directives and other security measures put in place to safeguard lives and property.

The timely intervention has been warmly welcomed by local leaders and residents alike. Jos North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Dachung Bagos, praised the visit, describing it as a much-needed and timely move. According to him, the high-level delegation’s presence in Jos will significantly boost public confidence, restore hope among the people, and accelerate ongoing peace restoration efforts across the state. He noted that such high-profile engagements demonstrate the seriousness with which the military leadership views the security situation in Plateau.

This visit comes at a critical time when Plateau State has continued to grapple with cycles of violence, farmer-herder clashes, and other forms of criminality that have led to loss of lives and displacement of many families. Stakeholders believe that the direct involvement of the Chief of Army Staff and other top security chiefs will inject fresh momentum into the fight against insecurity and help coordinate a more robust, multi-agency response.

As the delegation continues its engagements in the state, many residents are hopeful that this high-level intervention will translate into tangible improvements in security and bring about sustainable peace in Plateau State and its environs.
